Thus, we're able to get a peek into how much money Facebook applications are actually generating.SNAP reported $388,000 in revenue for their fourth quarter, which was up from $35,383 in the third. They attribute the growth to their applications: "Are You Interested" finished December with 5.2 million users, while "Meet New People" claims 350,000. Thus, it can be determined that each user was worth about 7 cents in revenue to SNAP in the quarter, or about 28 cents per year (388,000/5,500,000 * 4).As deals become more common in the Facebook application space, the question becomes how much is a user worth? Starting today, GrubHub will begin purchasing carbon offsets for every delivery order that’s placed on GrubHub. In creating a service that promotes laziness and excessive driving (hey, one car taking food to multiple people is better than all those folks driving their own cars to pick up the food, right?), GrubHub CEO told me that he feels kind of bad about how his company affects the environment. Partly due to the company’s recent funding, and also do to its continued success, GrubHub now has the wherewithal to do something about it. Somet

141 Vote(s)

We heard this same tale back when Bell Canada was involved in all that sale / merger / rumor business, but this time Telus is the center of the fun. It seems that Telus may be set to abandon its 'Betamax" network and is now ogling the hundreds of millions of dollars in roaming revenue that the GSM carriers enjoy by considering a move to tap into it. If this story sounds familiar, it’s because Plaxo launched the Pulse toolbar integration for Microsoft Outlook just last month. The hope is to make your life easier, more “synergized,” and easier to access, when it comes to your contacts and the swirl of activity that goes on around each and every one of them. While clearly a violation of copyright, when was the last time there was so much interest in Scrabble? Scrabulous currently has almost 600,000 daily active users, which, I assume is a lot more people than play the board game on a daily basis. As several others have noted, Mattel and Hasboro ought to just buy the application and enjoy having more engaged consumers. Combined, the two companies (who split the Scrabble trademark) have a market value of nearly $10 billion - they could probably acquire Scrabulous for less than they're about to spend in legal fees to protect their trademark. In any event, users are flocking to a Fac

129 Vote(s)

As discussed by Muhammad Saleem two weeks ago, Bury Recorder can only work with the data Digg’s API gives it, and that means about 10% of the actual buries, which makes it quite inaccurate. Therefore, Bury Recorder’s list of top buried stories is equally inaccurate. However, if you’re not interested in actual, precise numbers, and would like to learn about statistics and trends when it comes to Digg buries, this tool can be quite useful.

125 Vote(s)
